Bangs Ave. Ag Complex in progress

While students and staff enjoyed a well-deserved winter break, construction crews used the quieter campuses to make meaningful progress on bond-funded projects across the district. This work focuses on improving the spaces where students learn and staff work every day.

Below is a look at what was completed or started over winter break, along with what is coming up this spring and summer.

Science Classrooms: Open, In Use, and Moving Forward

Several science classroom projects reached important milestones while students were off campus.

At Downey High School, newly modernized science classrooms opened over winter break and are now in use. These updated labs are designed for hands-on learning, collaboration, and real-world science instruction. Additional science classrooms will continue to be modernized throughout the summer.

At Roosevelt Junior High School, science classroom upgrades were completed and are already being used by students, providing improved learning spaces that support STEM instruction.

At Beyer High School, work continued over winter break on the science classroom wing. These updated labs are scheduled to be completed this summer and ready for students at the start of the 2026–27 school year.

Career Pathways in Action: Agriculture Takes Shape

One of the district’s most hands-on learning projects continued to take shape over winter break.

Construction progressed on the new Modesto High School Agriculture Farm on Bangs Avenue, with the animal barn and storage buildings fully erected. Interior and site finish work is now underway. When completed this spring, the facility will provide students with real-world agricultural learning spaces, including animal care and horticulture areas that support career exploration and pathway programs.

Athletics and Wellness: Major Projects Underway

Winter break also marked key progress and new beginnings for athletic facilities.

At Davis High School, construction on the varsity baseball and softball fields advanced significantly over break. Swimming pool construction is now officially underway, with additional athletic improvements planned to begin this spring.

At Gregori High School, construction of the swimming pool began over winter break, marking a major milestone for student athletics and physical education.

These upgrades will support student wellness, team sports, physical education, and community use for years to come.

Everyday School Life: Cafeterias and Offices Taking Shape

Projects that support daily school operations also moved forward.

At Franklin Elementary School, the new cafeteria and administrative office buildings are fully erected and taking shape. Additional site improvements will continue this spring.

At Orville Wright Elementary School, the new cafeteria building is complete, with surrounding site work continuing to prepare the campus for full use. These spaces are designed to better serve students, families, and staff throughout the school day.

Built for Our School Community

Across the district, these bond-funded projects reflect the community’s investment in safe, modern, and student-centered schools. From science labs and career learning spaces to athletic facilities and cafeterias, each project is designed to support teaching and learning while strengthening school communities.

Construction will continue through the spring and summer, with more updates to come as projects reach key milestones, including openings, ribbon cuttings, and preparation for the next school year.
